This week I created renders of my four initial design concepts. These designs were all based on what I could build at home. I then finalized the design that I would construct. I designed to to show off my fabrication abilities.

Design 1

This design utilizes springs as a source of potential energy this will allow the projectile to experience a similar force each time. However this design will only allow the firing of one projectile at a time.

Design 2

This design utilizes compressed air as potential energy. this air will be compressed by a fan that is inside the casing. This design will also only allow one projectile to be loaded each time.

Design 3

This design is a follow on of the previous design and will allow multiple balls to be fired each time.

Design 4

This design is a variant of design 3 however instead of air compressed by an internal fan this design will utilize compressed air from an external air compressor as this will allow the force of the airflow to be regulated and allows the firing o the projectiles on a trigger mechanism.

Final design

The final design utilizes the best elements of design 4 while allowing the adjustment of the angle of projection. This will allow me to hit the target more accurately than if the angle was set to only one angle.

In the next blog I will detail the process of building the device and document the good and bad pats of the design.
